Facebook’s Future Plans after WhatsApp acquisition

In the history of Facebook acquisition it quite high amount for popular messaging service WhatsApp. Finally Facebook going to acquire WhatsApp for $19 billion by the end of this year as agreement. It Facebook will not go through the acquisition then they will pay $1 billion as breakup fee. But question is that why Facebook acquire a messaging service for such a huge amount.

Its obvious that this messaging service growing faster than other competitor like WeChat, Line, ChatOn etc. It’s going to achieve 1 billion user with currently 450 million user on daily basis. Facebook doesn’t have any plan to monetize this application by advertising.

Facebook recently working on a project Internet.org to connect rest of 2/3 part of world to internet. Information says this acquisition will help Facebook project Internet.org to connect more people to internet. So Facebook decided to run WhatsApp individual as it running without any interruption. Still anyone can enjoy this service just for $0.99 per year without any advertising. Just we have to wait how it goes after acquisition & how much time it takes to reach 1 billion active user.
